What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

​

To begin with, this week we were told to start off writing the beginning of our proposals and to also start our visual research. Throughout the week I also learned how to do visual research. Firstly as I am doing my FMP about gangs in London I researched a variety of gangs which all have different backgrounds. This was so I had a wider range of races. I then looked up on images which can relate to gangs. For example police, drugs, guns, money etc. I then also looked at a few YouTube videos on different movies which was gang related. I done this so then I was able to identify different shots I wanted to recreate. Furthermore, I done primary research. This I found very helpful as I read up on people’s different opinions on gangs and also read previous ex-gang members messages to urban youth. As focusing on these topic this week I did find it inspiring to some extent. This was because I found out a range of people’s opinions on gangs. Overall, I find everything I’m doing inspiring, as I find Gangs an interesting topic, I find it a very popular situation in society today where I love to hear different people’s opinions on how to eradicate this situation.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

However, I did come across a critical incident. This occurred when Bee did not agree with me doing my FMP on gangs in London. This was because a number of people approached doing this same topic and failed. However, I spoke to Bee and gave her my reasons and explained to her I can do this if you give me the support and chance. I told her I already have the introduction of my drama wrote done. Furthermore, after explaining what I’ve done already for my assignment showed Bee that what I was to do is doable, and also shows her how committed I am as well. I had an understanding of why Bee spoke to me about changing my idea however, it made me annoyed to some extent as she didn’t even give me a chance to start it properly. In addition, I chose to do this topic as I’m very passionate about it and by me being passionate about a topic like this makes me feel that I will take a lot of time my time perfecting my assignment and making sure I do my best. On the other, during Nick’s lesson I found it very useful as he read my proposal and basically gave me ideas to develop my drama. He also gave me positive feedback and told me that I’m on track and cannot wait to see the final production. This made me happy as I knew I was going in the right path which makes me strive even more for my work to be better. Moreover I noticed during this lesson I did not understand how important primary research was, and why it's really important to do. This is because it can help me come up with ideas just from looking at a group of various images

What action did I take

  • Went to sonia and explained to her what visual research is to me and to elaborate if i missed out everything.

  • Got Sonia to tell me the different research I can get to help me think about my visual research.

 

What is my next plan?

  • Look up different typography

  • Look for more sources regarding british gangs.

                                      Bee| Sonia|Gary’s Lesson


 

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reactions?           

Throughout this lesson I firstly stuck in various images which was identified as typography and annotated my different case studies which I found and on British gangs and will be put into my folder. Furthermore, throughout Bees lesson I focused on my visual analysis. So I went through google images and looked up images related to gangs and analysed these photos. This was so I could have a number of ideas that I may want to include in my drama. Secondly,  there was a number of diverse photos that I found and analysed as well. Furthermore, I done some primary research and mainly focused on Mark Duggan as that was a popular case in 2011. This occurred because Mark Duggan was shot and died because they thought he had a weapon on him, which caused a number of gang collaborating and disobeying towards the authority and caused a number of riots. The reason I annotated this was because it was a very useful case as a number of gangs were involved after it was clarified that he was dead.  I did enjoy this lesson, and came up with a number of ideas that i'm going to do in my drama. The reason I found it inspiring was because the information I found out about Mark Duggan was horrendous, and from my opinion it had a negative impact on gangs which made me really think about my opening scene for my drama. I also had a lesson with Sonia just clarifying the term Drama and what we have to do to have an entertaining drama.  Demographics and Psychographics which I thought was a big help for my drama and also gave me ideas as she was explaining. Lastly during Gary's lesson we briefly was looking at jobs in meeting and was building up our portfolios. Overall i enjoyed all these lessons as it was encouraging and also helped me have a few more ideas for my drama. However, the lesson I found more inspiring was Sonias. This was because she went through everyone's ideas and basically tried to come up with a twist which can get the audience engaged. This was so good, as I

I'm doing a short synopsis which will be just like a trailer which will fit every important part of my drama in like a trailer sort of thing. Furthermore, Sonia's was also good and she showed us different websites we are able to go on to get help with script writing which i though was very useful.

What went wrong/Weaknesses

During this hour lesson i learned that i needed a script for my drama which I hadn't done as i thought it was unnecessary. However, I learned how to complete a proper script for my drama on this website  https://www.celtx.com/index.html . Which i thought was helpful,  as I did not understand the format of setting out a script and furthermore did not think i really needed a script.

 

    Moreover, throughout these lessons I also had a critical incident as i did not have a twist throughout my drama, which I will need to engage my audience. This occurred as I was doing my focus groups and was getting asked by a number of individuals what my twist will be and I was not aware myself of what it will be.

What action did I take

  • Disused different twist I could have in my Drama with Sonia to engage urban youth ages between 16 - 34

  • Got Sonia to guide me as I was doing the Celtix template for my script


 

What is my next plan?

  • Watch a number of youtube dramas and movies such as, Top boy, Power and Straight outta Compton. This is so I can identify various numbers of twists to recreate for my drama V8.

Nick’s Lesson

 

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

In Nick’s lesson today we mainly focused on visual research, so I was just researching different images on google drive and annotating them. I also focused on my schedule so make sure I was updating it everyday and highlighted tasks that i have not yet completed. Furthermore, throughout this lesson the only new thing we focused and was adding audio to our drama. This made thinks about what audio i would like during V8.  Secondly i did enjoy this lesson however never found it inspiring as I was doing independent work which I find extremely useful as it gets me thinking and makes me come up with a number of ideas. Furthermore, I prefer doing independent work as i am just able to get on with it.

What went wrong/Weaknesses

Throughout this lesson I was struggling with finding a twist to me Drama.  This was because i do not think I would be able to pull it off in a realistic aspect. Which was a downfall for me as i need to figure out what type of realistic twist I can do.  Secondly, another critical incident I experienced throughout this lesson was that I was late and had to wait for Nick to see me at the the end of the lesson as there was not enough time during the lesson. This happened as I was extremely tired and overslept. Which was a downfall for me as I missed out on my learning.

 

What action did I take

  • Discussed the type of twist that could come across realistic when talking to Nick and to see if he has any suggestions.

 

What's my next plan

  • Watch a number of dramas and movies associated in british gang society which can  help me identify various numbers of twists to recreate for my drama V8.

Sonia and Johns

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

 

Through these two it was mainly focused on independent work, so catching up with all out post production work and making sure we were up to date with our reflective journals. However, I did learn about typography and how it's important to have different types of typography such a street. This is so you're able to analyse the one I want to recreate for my drama. However, throughout Sonia's lesson it was more an overview of demographics and psychographics . This was just reminding us what we have to add in our pitch.  However during this lesson i was focusing on my target audience  which will have to be added into my pitch.  In addition, I did enjoy this lesson as I was able to get on with work without being disturbed.

What went wrong/Weaknesses

However, I did come across a critical incident during Sonia's lesson. This occurred with the psychographic and demographic topic. This was because I did not understand how we are meant to link this subject in with the pitch. furthermore, by explaining this to Sonia she explained to the whole class that's it's linked with the target audience and showed us an example of how our target audience slide in my pitch should be.Secondly, the only downfall I have is that I need to discuss with the teachers the downfall about me being in a room around people.  I know i’m the type of person that gets distracted easily so I just feel to create work to the distinction level I feel I can do in the classroom but to be on a comfortable high grade i would need to be focused by myself with no distractions.

 

What actions did i take?

  • Making sure with any topics which were being discussed, making sure that I understood it.


 

What is my next plan?

  • Completing my target audience research and secondary research and making sure it’s all annotated

  • Discuss with Sonia seeing arrangements.

Bees Lesson   

when I had come into the lesson today my group was accompanied by the rest of the year one course as bee was briefing us on the pitch for the FMP. After a wile f briefing and questions we finally all got stuck into doing work. as well as this Bee was checking people's proposals although she didn't do mine which was quite a let down. however I was focusing on doing my pitch through the lesson and managed to make base slides for each point so i can then expand on them a lot further. from there I also had enough time to expand on a few slides so I did execute that opportunity well.

This was a good lesson in a sense that i didn't have to spend the whole of it doing visual research and that I was able to focus on work that'll widen my knowledge on the future parts of the FMP as I prepare to deliver. I had also stated that I wished to present my pitch as I really dislike having to screen record and since the opportunity was there I took it.

On the other hand I really hated how the briefing of the pitch was presented to us at this late of a stage where it needs to be handed in on friday and we still are rushing to complete other work. not just myself. Everyone. however seeing as there was nothing I could do I left it. In another case I would take this higher to manager level but with the short time we have left I had to hold my tongue and get on with it. And still am getting on with it.

With no bad feedback from the lesson I have no plans for future reference. Nothing had gone bad nor anything good in the lesson. Although in the future I plan on asking him to look at my work more to help me in where I need to improve.

Throughout Bees lesson it was just about focusing on my proposal and schedule.As I was focusing on these two topics Bee did come and speak to me about my work and evaluate it briefly. However, I did come across the same incident as before with Bee where she's continuously is saying that instead of me doing my drama about gangs, drugs and money. She suggested why I don't do the ut doing this assignment for a number of weeks.  In my opinions I enjoy Bees lessons ,because I know I learn something everyday when she teaches .

 

       

 

       Evaluation Of Context And Research

Throughout today's lesson, it s been deadline day and I've mainly been focusing on completing my pitch as there was a number of topics we had to complete if we wanted to get a distinction. I have come across a number of ideas which was helpful when doing my visual research as i came across a lot of youtube videos and photos which were not all related to gangs. However living in a society that we live in can contradict the way individuals perceive individuals and can come across a lot of individuals stereotype a number of people because of the way they dress. My research has developed and carried my production forward with the amount of feedback I’ve been getting on the topic of drama films and series and just asking rough psychographic and demographic questions. To backup my point my survey proved this when i had mostly everyone who agreed that gangs are stereotyped to a particular race

 

              

Secondly  50% of  individuals on my survey shared their opinion and said gangs cannot be eradicated.  However, as I've put my proposal together I want to prove to viewers that gangs can be eradicated it just about encouraging the urban youth and getting many of them into activities they will enjoy. For example, on my survey again individuals came to the conclusion that it's mainly down to upbringing and being neglected from young so individuals will want to be in a ‘family’ where he can also provide for himself and feel loved and wanted.

 

 

Furthermore, by completing these tasks today has really benefited me as I've have a range of ideas, such as the different camera shots i will be doing. I've got a better understanding of the mise-en-scene during my research.  On the other hand, I've came across my target audience which will be based on 16 - 24 year olds. This was decided as I done research on my drama, so what short films are similar and furthermore, the range of ages which answered my survey.

 

Furthermore, during these lessons i've really enjoyed today as my knowledge and ideas have definitely increased by doing all this research. Its making me see my drama in more depth and has made me think of a number of unique ideas which will be similar to dramas on channel 4 but will be unique. However, during these 3 weeks overall i have come across actions I have critically taken for my idea. This came across to me when I did not think about a voice over. Because as i'm doing a drama I'm not going to have ,much dialogue as there will be a voice over throughout the whole thing, which I'm nervous about as it might now flow or sound realistic in a way. I also had criticisms from my teacher saying that a voice over is a wrong move because it never goes well.

 

During this pre production stage, I found it very stressful as I was focusing on my production management. This included how I’m going to use my time wisely, which so far I can agree to that I am. Moreover, I completed a schedule, which showed me what I’ll be doing everyday. I found this good as i was able to maintain my time well and was able to keep track of everything. The most thing I struggled with during my time in post production was finding my actors. This was hard as I needed to find individuals that can act the part realistically. This resulted me going to a number of different areas, asking a range of young boys if they could be apart of my drama. This was good, as I got a number of people and done a range of auditions identifying if they were right for the role. Furthermore, the reason why I picked boys was because  the stereotype looks more at boys than girl in gang situations.

As I live in a very  controversial area which, I truly believe is segregated, I decided to base my drama in Hornsey, trying to portrays the sense of realism, so I will shoot on the streets of north London .  Living in hornsey is good to some extent, however but with this area you're able to notice more the controversy with black and white. When picking my actors I made sure I had a major back up plan with one. This was because by me picking this main actor to feature in my drama will be hard to some extent because, he's a very popular man and I know can be very busy. However, by me picking him and knowing this about him made me realise he may not be as reliable as I think. So i made sure by knowing this that I had a back up plan.

Thirdly, when coming to terms on what i’m going to do for my FMP I decided to focus on gangs in London like the society that we live in today and the way young people think nowadays need to change. I watched a number of movies, drama series which helped me figure out the types of shots I want to recreate. I done leaps of research on channel 4 and e4 trying to identify my target audience. I done a number of surveys asking a range of questions about gangs, and dramas. This was to see a number of people's responses and what they prefer. In addition, I enjoyed doing pre production, as I was advised a lot by the teacher with what I could do better etc. I was able to time myself well for the small deadline I had

Nicks Lesson

                               

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction.

Today in Nick's lesson we was focusing on our Fmp work. Mainly elaborating on our production paperwork and making sure we were up to date with it all/ However, Nick explained at the beginning of the lesson that he wants us to complete on word what audio we will be using throughout and how we are going to perfect this audio. The screenshot i have took is some of the  work that I competed for the task Nick gave. Firstly, I decided that i am going to use a gun shot in my drama. This made me have a look at  youtube videos in ways in where I can perfect this crime. Secondly as I was  explaining to nick the type of directional sound I wanted to be covered throughout my drama he spoke to me and explained that I'm going to need an ambience, dead cat shot mic and a boom stick with a shotgun mic attached. This is so my sound will come out clear and furthermore it will pick up noises in the background, which is what I need. Moreover, I did enjoy this lesson as Nick gave us sticky notes to write on. This was for everyone to write individually what 3 tasks they will be completing throughout the lesson, which i thought was an amazing idea as I did as an individual got a lot of work done.

What went wrong/Weaknesses

Throughout this lesson I did not come across any critical incidents as I was doing independent work. However, the only thing which could be see as a downfall is that i did not have the understanding of each microphone and what the difference are between them. Furthermore,  I had a discussion with Nick and he gave me pointers on each of the microphones and had me explain to him the type of noises I want. By this happening he was able to figure out what microphones were best for me. On the other hand he got the microphones that I was using and showed me how to put them together. This was so when i'm filming i do not have any incidents trying to put the equipment together.

 

What action did I take

  • Had Nick explain to me the definitions and what type of sound each microphone will pick up

  • Had Nick show me how to connect the equipment and camera and microphone together.


 

What is my next plan?

  • Putting the equipment together without having a further help from adults. This is so I have the ability to work with the microphones and cameras when i start to film.

  • Making sure I am able to justify my reasons in why i am using these specific microphones

Sonia and John

 

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction.

 

When I started this lesson with Sonia she had mentioned that the class needed to choose three things from the production paperwork that we needed to do. From there I decided to complete my Call Sheets, Recce and animatic. On the other hand, Sonia also went through our progress and told us roughly with each topic what grade we are currently at. This was very useful as i was able to help to get improvement with the help of sonia on different tasks I have completing or are still completing. Sonia was also able to help tweak my work to some extent. For example she gave me tips for what to include in the rational part of my proposal. Throughout this lesson I really enjoyed it as I was getting work done but was also getting a lot of help from Sonia throughout and it

enabled me to organise my workload. It wasn't too much or too little to handle due to me having to pick bits of work that I had to do.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

Throughout this lesson, the workflow was really good. However, I did come across an incident when Sonia was peer assessing me. This was a downfall as my reflective journals was not where I thought they was. Sonia did not agree with the way they were set out and found it draining reading them. However, by hearing this Sonia explained to me in what way it should be laid out and what else I should include which really helped me as I did not have a full understanding of how she wanted me to change the before.

 

What action did I take

  • Mentioning to Sonia and Bee to enforce us having to choose a minimum of three tasks of work to be complete every lesson as i found this very helpful.

  • Making sure I understood the example of how my layout for my reflective journals should be when Sonia was explaining it to me. Furthermore, making sure that I understood every point I should include as well.

 

What’s is my next plan

  • Read through the example Sonia gave me of the reflective journal and made sure I understood.

  • Updating my reflective journals and while doing that, use the example template before friday as Sonia can just double check it.

Bees Lesson

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

During this lesson with Bee, it was mainly focused on Bee reflecting on everyone's individual FMP. This was able to help me as I was able to identify areas where i was weak on that could be improved and furthermore, gain ways from Bee which can help me improve my work I've done so far. Secondly while I was waiting to be seen individually by Bee, I focused on my target audience and my secondary research.

 

These pictures identifies the  research i have been doing towards my secondary research and my target audience. These photos help me to some extent as it shows me the majority of my target audience is around the ages of 16 - 34 year old which also tells me the range of ages who would be more willing to watch my drama.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

During this lesson, I think the only incident I had throughout was just not being able to find my target audience in ways where it gives me enough evidence, in the sense of bar charts and pie charts etc.

 

What action did I take

  • Spoke to Bee about the situation of not being able to find enough information. This resulted to Bee showing the whole class, as the majority was literally in the exact same shoes as me. However, she introduced the class to this website which showed everyone where they would be able to find secondary research moreover, there target audience. http://www.barb.co.uk/

What's my next plan?

  • My next plan is to complete my target audience research, where i will be annotating topics on the barb website which is related to my target audience etc.

  • Complete my second proposal  of the improvements Bee identified to be changed. Secondly, making sure i pin point that the proposal i am completing is draft 2.

Nicks Lesson

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

During Nicks lesson today, we focused on audio again. This was just making sure we had the understanding of how to use the microphones. This lesson was really good as Nick went through the range of microphones and showed us what is best for us to use for our audio. This was done depending on what we were doing for our FMP. Secondly during this lesson Nick went through everyone individually and briefly spoke to me about my FMP and my idea. He also gave me advice on how I am able to make a good gun shot noise, which we done by looking on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zI-fM3BEb  This link I have added shows a range of ways in which I  can attempt a realistic gun shot noises. Furthermore, I found this lesson good but not so inspiring. This is because i was able to figure out a realistic way I was able to imitate a gun shot noise.  

What went wrong/weakness

I found during this lesson nothing went wrong. However, I found it confusing in a way because i did not understand properly how to use the microphones when trying to test them out. To elaborate on that, I did not get how to link the camera and microphone together myself. This was an incident as when filming my assignment I would need to know this beforehand.

What action did i take?

The action i took was asking Nick to show me how to put the camera and microphone together just like how i would do it step by step when actually filming. This was useful as I learnt properly how to put everything together.

What's my next plan?

  • Is to make sure i am able to successfully make a gun shot noise realistically. So I should attempt it individually just to make sure i can do it before actually filming.

  • Secondly, making sure i am able to link the camera and microphone together properly without any help.

 

Sonias Lesson

During Sonia's lesson today, she gave us a posted note to write down 3 things which me as an individual will focus on and complete. I chose to focus on my 2 call sheets and my shot list. As focusing on these 3 tasks Sonia called me up and gave me some brief feedback elaborating on what needs to be improved/how I can improve it and also told me what grade I'm currently sitting on. This was good as it gave me an eye opener and made me realise what I need to do to improve my work. Secondly, I really enjoy Sonia's lessons as I have an understanding of what I need to do etc.On the other hand, I always find her inspiring when she teaches and find myself always getting work complete to a substantial standard.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

Throughout Sonia’s lesson I found that the way my layout for the reflectives journals was done was a fail. However, Sonia showed me the format I had to do to raise my grade. However, she told me the way I write was substantial however, the layout makes it draining. So she told me to follow the layout and making sure that I've added pictures and sub heading and then i'll be good to go.

 

Whats actions did i take?

I made sure that i changed up on of my reflective journals. This was so Sonia was able to review it before me going home. Furthermore, by me showing Sonia this helped me as I was able to see exactly what she was asking me to do. Moreover, I was able to have that understanding for also the weekend, which was good as i was able to complete my RJ on the weekend following the layout i donee.


 

What's my next plan?

  • I’ve focused on my reflective journals and made sure that i changed up my layout and completed everything else regarding what Sonia told me to do.

 

Filming V8 Evaluation

17/3/17

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

This evening I went and filmed a range of shots, which i may want to use in my drama when editing it. I went round to various places in Hornsey where I will be shooting and took test shots of the are. This was good as i was able to see how the filming turned out at late night like that. This is because i new throughout that I will be filming certain shots of V8 in the evening.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

Particularly nothing went wrong when doing a few test shots. However, when doing certain pan shots etc. There was a dog barking constantly and was interrupting my filming as I had the microphone on as well.

 

Whats actions did i take?

This was a critical incident as I had to speak to the dogs carer and ask if they are able to remove him  just for a few minutes while i was taking test shots. Luckily they were understanding and done as I asked.

 

What's my next plan?

  • Show Bee my shots that i had taken so far to see what she thinks.

  • Add my shots in my RJ just so when the teachers are reading them, they are aware that I’ve done them.

MSV Work experience

 

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

Today I went into college for 7:15 and went on the mini bus for 7:30. 2 hours passed and we went to Brands Hatch for work experience, where we reached to our destination for 9. Once we got there, we went into the safety room and was briefed for a about an one and a half on what they are inspecting us to do. They gave us a range of information about Brands Hatch and explained to us the different meanings of the flags etc. This was so we are aware of this when filming. Secondly, we went on a tour around the track just showing the different types of areas we may be located to film. I found brands Hatch inspiring however, at the same time found it boring. This was because I was not interested in cars however, it was nice to be informed about something different and from someone else's perspective. Thirdly i enjoyed being out in the wilderness. This was because i felt refreshed when being outside and it was just good being in a different type of environment.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

Nothing went wrong during Brand's Hatch. However, getting there at 7:15 made me extremely tired. By this happening it made me not focus as well during the briefing and made me even more tired.

 

What actions did i take?

During this time at Brand Hatch i did not take any actions as there wasn't really any actions to be taken.

 

What's my next plan?  

  • I’m going to make sure for the next Brands Hatch event, i'm going to make sure that I’m going to have an earlier night. So then i am more focused when attending the next Brands Hatch event.

Bees lesson

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction

In Bees lesson today we mainly focused on the mistakes in our production paperwork. So, I just focused on that and then began to upload all my new work I started on google drive. From there, Bee spoke to the class and explained the problem solving long in more depth and helped us annotated it. Which I found helpful as I had more of an understanding when looking at it. I found that this long helped me to some extent when writing my evaluation. It was like they were sub headings, so when writing my evaluation I did not find it hard begining my sentences etc. However, i enjoyed this lesson to some extent as i was just focusing on my work and also wrote down 3 things I will do to complete in this lesson which i done in previous lessons that i found very useful.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

During this lesson, I did not experience any critical incidents . Except one, I did not have the understanding when doing the problem solving log. Furthermore, when doing the problem solving log I was doing my evaluation wrong. This was because I did not understand what to include in it why my grade was  not not as good as it was supposed to be.

 

What actions did i take?

Spoke with Bee and as I was not the only one, she explained to the whole class what they have to do in more depth etc. She also advised the class on what to do to  when annotating the problem solving log.

 

What's my next plan?

  • Complete my problem solving log (annotating)

  • Complete my evaluation following the problem solving and show Be

Nick’s Lesson

 

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction.

During this lesson, it was just like the other lessons we were doing. Firstly Nick gave us a stickie note. This was to write down 3 things that we are going to complete this lesson. Firstly, i wrote down my animatic and my call sheets. I did not write a third task as  I know my animatic would take up a lot of my time.


 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

During this lesson, the first thing that went wrong was I did not know how to set up final cut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MZ9W6q3SqM   . This was a critical incident as  i delayed my time in starting my animatic. However, the link I have provided shows me how to set final cut up in a way where it won't delete any previous work done by other students.

 

What actions did i take?

I spoke with Bee briefly and she told me to have a look on her youtube channel which shows my a way in which i can set up final cut properly.

 

What's my next plan?

  • Making sure my animatic is completed for next lesson that i am attending. This is so the teachers will be able to look at my animatic and make sure i have completed it properly without anything incorrect.

Johns lesson

 

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction.

Today in Johns lesson it was deadline day and i was mainly focusing on tweaking my work to some extent. However, John was explaining certain topics in the class today about filming. He was showing us different ways in filming. Such as the rule of thirds. He was explaining to me individually that it would be good to use this when film. This was because i was trying to recreate a shot from Top boy. which is a drama series i’m trying to imitate. After this I continued to get  on and complete the rest of my production paperwork that i needed to do before the deadline at 5pm.

 

What went wrong/Weaknesses

During this lesson, I did not have any weakness as it was just about me focusing and completing the rest of my work which i had to do for my deadline. However i do find that i was not as under pressure. This was because I completed the majority of my work which made me very laid back when finishing off the rest of my work.

 

Whats actions did i take

I did not take any actions this lesson. However as I completed the work which was due today I moved on to a number of other topics which has a deadline in 3 weeks. I done this so then i was not struggling when it reaches that deadline.

 

What's my next plan?

My next plan is to finish of what i started with my other pieces of work that i started, which will be due in 3 weeks time. This was so I am able to show one of my teachers the work and am able to get them to see if I have completed it at a good standard.


 

Sonias Lesson

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction.

In Sonia's lesson I really just went back to the room and was continuing what I was doing in Johns lesson. However, Sonia also sat down with me and went through my feedback of how i was getting on with all my work. Me and sonia went through all my production paperwork and i got her to tell me what to improve in each of them. She also showed me what a distinction call sheet looks like. This was so i could look at it and do the same with mine. However, towards the end of the lesson I began my evaluation for pre production paperwork and used the problem solving log as a guide.

What went wrong/Weaknesses

Nothing went wrong during this lesson. However, I was unable to finish my sketchbook as I did not know what else i could include in it. As this happened, i sat down with Sonia and she guided me with what I can do better in my sketchbook and what else I can include. For example she went through with me again different Typographies I can include which can help me when putting my drama together.

 

What actions did i take?

The first action iI took was as its friday i printed out a few sheets of paper which has different types of typography on there. This was so i was able to stick them in my sketch book on the weekend and however continue with some production paperwork.

 

What's my next plan?

Show sonia the types of typography I found and show her the ways i stuck them in my sketch book and see if there's anything else she can advise me to put it my sketch book.

Filming V8 Evaluation

What I have learnt/ What happened/Personal Reaction.

Today I went out with Abdul and began my filming for my assignment V8. We went to a number of locations around Hornsey, which I thought were versatile areas in N8. When going to these locations I noticed that they were very sociable ares. However, I thought was good when filming as i was able to record the voices of the individuals who were present in the background. As I direct and Abdul is my camera man i directed him to do a range of pan and establishing shots.
